Selling to Ratouli Seafood

We import frozen fish for our own distribution in the Netherlands, with DAP delivery across the EU and the UK. This page answers what a supplier normally asks us in the first three mails, so we can skip them.

What we buy

Whole frozen fish from establishments on the EU list of approved third-country plants: tilapia, black and red, gilled, gutted and scaled, individually wrapped, from Indonesia, China and Vietnam. Alongside that we buy stockfish from Norway, salted herring from Canada and salted pollock from China for the salted and smoked lines we produce in Volendam. Origins we work with include Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Norway and Canada. Frozen whole fish is bought by the container.

What we need before we order

Your EU approval number, and the listing line we can check ourselves.
A specification sheet: species with the Latin name, presentation, size grades and tolerance, glaze percentage, net weight per carton, cartons per pallet, shelf life and the study behind it.
A proof of the carton label and the inner bag.
The health certificate model you issue for the EU, with a redacted recent example.
Price per net kilo after de-glazing, FOB or CFR Rotterdam. We do not buy on gross weight.

How we pay

Typically 30 percent by T/T on order confirmation and 70 percent against original documents, or a sight letter of credit from our Dutch bank. We do not ask for credit, consignment or exclusivity.

We pay the company on the invoice, to the bank account on its own letterhead. No third-party accounts, no private accounts.

When the container arrives

We are the importer of record. Customs entry runs through our licensed customs broker in the Netherlands, the veterinary check at the border control post is booked on our account, and the goods go into our own cold store under NL208262EG in Volendam.

On arrival we check core temperature, de-glaze a sample to verify net weight, count sizes against the grade and check the label against the specification. Findings go back to you the same week, with photos.
